1977 YAMAHA XS

1977 Yamaha XS. My modifications include bolting a bigger plate to the brake pedal since I wear a size 13 wide (big feet) but you can unbolt the plate to have the original factory brake pedal and the mounting of a BMW wind deflector on the engine guard which I will remove and keep for my self to mount on my new 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator 451cc motorcycle. Sorry to say I’m selling my venerable 1977 YAMAHA XS650 (651cc) Motorcycle. This bike has been garage kept and ridden most of the time with 41,492 miles on the clock, well taken care of and has not been abused and never dropped, I’m the second owner. Upgrades have been from a “Points System) and installing “The Bowyer Ignition System” which has added more torque to the engine. As a talented and gifted person myself I’ve always modified (slight modification) on my motorcycles to fit my needs and make them unique from other motorcycles.My modifications include bolting a bigger plate to the brake pedal since I wear a size 13 wide (big feet) but you can unbolt the plate to have the original factory brake pedal and the mounting of a BMW wind deflector on the engine guard which I will remove and keep for my self to mount on my new 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator 451cc motorcycle. The carburetors on my XS were rebuilt last year with every items in the carburetors replaced with new parts vis Mike’s XS parts plus refurbishing the electric start. To be honest the electric start is temperamental, works 75% of the time and most of the time you’d have to kick-start the machine. Another upgrade was to replace the gear lever to an extended one (longer) that Mike XS used to sell but no longer sell it. I will give you the original gear lever (shorter one). Oh the original seat two small tears (shown in pic) but is useable. The ONLY item you need to replace “eventually” is the Front Brake “master Cylinder” (shown in pic) which is still useable and brakes very well. Other than the master cylinder I can’t think of any other item or part(s) that need replacement or immediate attention. The bike usually starts with one push of the electric start (when its not temperamental) and usually one or two kicks with the kick starter to start. Its been incredibly very reliable as is the XS engines have been well known. Oh bike has a current inspection tag until August of 2025 with a CLEAN title. Well you might ask, my dear friend why are you selling this bike that you love so much: the main reasons are I’m 77 years young (ha, ha), the XS is too heavy for me (approximately 550 lbs., its too high for me now, ground clearance around 37.5 inches (I’m 5′ 7″), adding the electronic ignition has added more torque to the bike (best guess 53 HP) and kick starting it now with the new electronic system requires a stronger leg than mine. My new Eliminator is less than 400 lbs, lighter, 27.5 inches ground clearance, a 6 speed fuel injected machine. Finally a $200 deposit is required at time of purchase and the rest payable before delivery.
